Abstract:
The article describes different spectral engineering technologies for maximum accuracy of museum exhibit colour rendering. Based on their own experience and studies, the authors present a detailed review of improvement of phosphor’s application for production of LED: their characteristics, features, and problems. A special consideration is given to a brand-new approach: application of semiconductor nanoparticles, the quantum dots. The key issue is to increase the quantum efficiency, specific features of spectral engineering are considered relative to the Planck curve, as well as the implemented special binning standard. The entire material is illustrated by practical examples such as the projects implemented by Lumileds in the Rijksmuseum as well as by MDM–Light in the State Hermitage Museum, Surround Art Gallery, Buzeon, ILONA-K Artspace. Substantiated technical solutions for establishment of an ideal museum lighting system are presented.
