Abstract:
In the experience of public and commercial buildings lighting, subjectively perceived colour rendering is often of a higher priority than the colorimetric accuracy of colour reproduction. An experimental layout has been developed at the Lighting Engineering Department of the National Research University MPEI – a polychromatic LED emitter that allows us obtaining spectra consisting of emissions from 10 groups of differently coloured and white LEDs. The layout allows simulating lighting conditions that can be created using standard, commercially available LED devices. A number of experiments were conducted using the developed polychromatic emitter to determine the best lighting conditions for several typical kinds of food products displayed in the entrance areas of supermarkets. As a result, combinations of basic LED colours and correlated colour temperatures were obtained that are most suitable for each type of these goods, and the effect of distancing the coordinates of the colour source from the line of a black body radiator on objective and subjective colour rendering evaluations was also determined.
