Abstract:
In accordance with the requirements of the decree of the government (DG) of the Russian Federation, protective glass is a mandatory element of the design of utilitarian outdoor luminaries. The paper analyses the relevance of this requirement and explains the functions performed by this structural element. The protective glass of the outdoor luminaire provides significant advantages of LED outdoor lighting installations (LOLI), confirmed by analysis of the literature, calculated estimates and during experimental studies of characteristics changes during operation. Considering the identified dependencies is advisable when determining the outdoor luminaire’s maintenance and dirt depreciation factor for luminaries’ various designs.
