Abstract:
Although with the increasing demand for WLED (White Light Emitting Diode) lamps, the use of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) in the domestic sector has been reduced significantly, they are still used in developing countries due to their low cost and availability. A general lamp model for compact fluorescent lamps has been developed based on the Time Varying Conductance Model, which relies on an exponential component and corresponds to the input current waveform of the CFL lamp system. The ultimate generic model is subsequently verified with experimental data, obtained with CFL and simulated with Simulink and MATLAB. This model allows for analysis and simulation of different electrical waveforms to investigate the behaviour of low-power discharge lamps.
