Talrose FRC HF RAS, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, secretary of the International Committee on the Problem of Ball Lightning. Vadim A. Nikitin, Ph. D. in Phys.-Math. Sciences. He graduated in 1984 from the Faculty of Physics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. At present, he is the leading engineer at the Institute of Energy Problems of Chemical Physics named after V.L. Talrose FRC HF RAS. His research interests: semiconductor physics, laser spectroscopy, computer modelling, ball lightning physics

Alexander M. Velichko, Ph. D. in Phys,-Math. Sciences. He graduated in 1982 from the Faculty of Molecular and Chemical Physics of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. At present, he is a senior researcher at the Institute of Energy Problems of Chemical Physics named after V.L. Talrose FRC HF RAS. His research interests: quantum electronics (IR lasers), laser spectroscopy, the effect of laser radiation on materials, ball lightning physics

Tamara F. Nikitina, Ph. D. in Phys.-Math. Sciences. She graduated in 1961 from the Faculty of Physics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. At present, she is a senior researcher at the Institute of Energy Problems of Chemical Physics named after V.L. Talrose FRC HF RAS, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, scientific secretary of the Section “Monitoring of high-energy processes” of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. Her research interests: plasma physics, quantum electronics (masers, semiconductor lasers), X-ray and laser spectroscopy, inertial thermonuclear fusion, ball lightning physics

Abstract:
The procedure for calculating the distances to far removed objects using the analysis of a photograph is described, in which along with the image of the object its reflection in water is presenting. To carry out the analysis, information is required about the height of the camera above the water surface, the distance to objects in the foreground and the size of these objects. The operation of the method is demonstrated.
